Lost Art Press is great, but not exactly for the beginner. I'm a huge fan of The Wood Whisperer aka Marc Spagnuolo (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheWoodWhisperer). He has a lot of content on YouTube that's significantly higher production quality than everyone else, and most importantly he's very good at teaching.

He has two books that are great for the beginner: -Essential Joinery -Hybrid Woodworking
