There's a lot of Fundamental Attribution Error all over the news. Removing Putin might create a pause, but it will not change the underlying politics.

Thanks to its history and geography, Russia must be expansionist internationally. If it succeeds in expanding, it is very likely to be totalitarian internally.

Thanks to its history, the job of any ruler of Moscow is "prevent invasion". Thanks to its geography, there are few strategies available for that, and the likelihood of internal strife is much higher than in developed countries.
