This is a truth but it's not the foundational issue we should be concerned about. Instead:

Privacy is the key to self-determination.

That is, it's not the loss of privacy that is hurting us in some way. It's that those details are being used to influece us, often used against us, and in ways we are not completely aware. The persistence and ubiquity doesn't make it right.

In short, when we lack privacy we are not be allowed to be ourselves.
