Being a Catholic cosmologist, I have always been intrigued by Lemaitre's figure. I read «The Atom of the Universe: The Life and Work of Georges Lemaitre» [1] and discovered that Lemaitre was a pionieer of numerical analysis as well: he studied various computer languages (he seemed to be in love with Algol) and bought one of the first computing machines in the 50s.
