If you don't consider these eyewitness accounts as evidence, then I can only assume you have your blinders on. It is very important to note that these people you dismiss as "political actors" were historically apolitical; they weren't active at all in politics, and many even identified more as liberals or democrats. They only became more active as they bore personal witness to the evil ideologies being perpetuated in our society.
